In 1988, Mr. Arif Ertunga, a successful businessman and a true entrepreneur, was convinced by a local person to buy a piece of land at the skirts of Mount Babadag.

At first, he was indecisive since the development of the whole area seemed to progress very slowly and a tourism investment by the sea side looked more appropriate. Nevertheless, he made up his mind and bought the rocky piece of land next to the pine forests, overlooking the beautiful valley.

After 1990, tourism in the area showed some progress and Mr. Ertunga finally decided to invest in a hotel which was to be built and financed solely by the company he and his family owned. It turned out to be a long construction period full of hard work and financial difficulties.

Mr. Ertunga and his family significantly contributed to the architectural project and its details, especially in the creation of the gardens and the preservation of the nature around. All the olive trees and wonderful roses in Montana Pine have been chosen and planted by Mr. Ertunga himself years ago.

Before Mr. Arif Ertunga passed away in July of 1999, he had worked in person within the premises until 79 years of age, in an effort to leave his dream behind for his loved ones, his family. Today, with the assistance of the family, his eldest son Cenk Ertunga is working to keep the father’s wish and memory alive.

10th Anniversary   1993 - 2003
In the summer of 2003, Montana Pine's 10th Year Anniversary celebrations have taken place every 2 weeks during special dinners with the participation of our guests.

Names of many of our loyal guests who had previously visited our hotel for several times were announced. Champagne was served for every table, and, guests together with our staff members could share our giant anniversary cake at the end of each dinner.

Our special guests were Barbara and Ron Hobson from U.K. on June 22, 2003.
Mrs. Diler Ertunga, member of the board, gave a special present to the couple who had been to Montana Pine for 10 years since the opening.
